From Cybersecurity in Combat Zones to Cultural Transformation
Jevon’s story begins in one of the most unexpected places: Afghanistan. While deployed in 2017, he realized his heart was no longer in cybersecurity. Protecting digital systems and data felt detached from the human impact he truly wanted to make.
"I just got tired of protecting ones and zeros. I needed to make a real impact. That’s when the vision for BrightMind Consulting Group was born," Jevon shares.
He began coaching fellow soldiers—particularly veterans and minority veterans—and quickly discovered his passion for helping people grow. That evolved into a broader focus on leadership, culture, and emotional intelligence, ultimately leading to the creation of a dynamic consulting and coaching practice.

At the heart of Jevon’s work is a commitment to customization. BrightMind Consulting Group delivers tailored leadership training, coaching, and cultural transformation programs built around emotional intelligence assessments.

"No two leaders or organizations are the same. We start with assessments—DISC, EQ, Hogan—and then we design solutions that align with values and goals," Jevon explains.
His clients range from solopreneurs to companies with 15,000+ employees across industries like construction, oil and gas, tech, logistics, hospitality, and more. But his sweet spot? Small to mid-sized businesses that want intentional, sustainable growth.
Failing Forward, Pivoting Intentionally, and Serving with Heart
Jevon is quick to dispel any illusions about overnight success. His growth came through failure, pivots, and deep introspection. What began as a niche focus on coaching minority veterans evolved into a broader mission after realizing the original model wasn’t sustainable.
"Don’t get so tied to an idea that you’re unwilling to pivot. Listen. Adjust. Scale intentionally," he says.
Today, he supports leaders who may appear confident on the outside, but still need support, accountability, and someone who truly sees them. His coaching isn’t just tactical—it’s deeply relational.
"They need someone to bounce ideas off of, someone they can let their guard down with. That’s who I show up for," Jevon shares.
Building Through Relationships, Not Just Clients
Jevon’s philosophy on business growth centers around relationships—not transactions. He doesn’t chase clients; he nurtures connections. Through speaking, podcasting, intentional networking, and what he calls OPP (Other People’s Platforms), he’s built a business rooted in value and trust.
"Stop thinking client or bust. Some of my best referrals came from people I just had a great conversation with. Offer value, build trust, and let the opportunities grow from there," he advises.
He also collaborates with other coaches and consultants—sometimes even those with the same title—because he believes in community over competition.
"Big contracts require a team. I keep a roster of trusted colleagues and bring them in when needed. We grow together," he explains.
Practical Wisdom for the Entrepreneurial Journey
Jevon doesn’t just inspire—he equips. His business development process is built around clarity, intentionality, and communication. When a potential client reaches out, his first priority is to get to the root of the problem—not just the symptoms.
"We start with: what’s really going on here? Then we tie the solution to how it affects them personally, not just professionally. That’s when real transformation begins," he says.
From there, he co-creates a customized proposal, only after identifying budget, stakeholders, and the decision-making process—ensuring alignment before moving forward.
He also encourages entrepreneurs—especially those still in a 9-to-5—to:
Validate their business idea before jumping in.
Get known for one core offer before expanding.
Be hyper-intentional with their time.
Use AI tools and networking platforms (like Alignable or LinkedIn) to accelerate connection.
"Don’t just use your time reacting. Be proactive. Block time for what matters. And use the tools that already exist to get there faster," Jevon advises.
The Power of Purpose and the Next Best Step
Jevon’s ultimate mission is to impact millions—not just through one-on-one coaching, but through his books, keynotes, and platforms that expand his reach. He wants people to define success for themselves, not by society’s standards.
"A lot of us are living someone else’s idea of success. I want to help people sit with their values, define what legacy means to them, and design a life around that," he says.
He reminds us that purpose doesn’t make the path easy—it just makes it worth it. In tough moments, Jevon slows down, zooms in, and focuses on the next best step. And that’s what he teaches his clients to do too.
"You don’t have to do it all today. Just take the next best step. That’s how we get there," he shares.
